Typographical Book Cover Redesign

Objective:
To create a creative and visually interesting re-design of an existing book cover that draws the viewers eye in a potentially crowded bookstore or library setting.

Process:
I wanted to create a strong contrast between the words “War” and “Art” while maintaining a clean and fun visual style around the rest of the cover. The word “War” is made to look censored, and that was what inspired the use of black, along with the bold font. “Art” on the other hand was made to embrace the feeling of colouring outside the lines, expression, and creative freedom. For the description on the back the drop cap font was chosen from the word “Art” to keep a sense of whimsy so as not to make the back bleak or overwhelming.
